ABOUT THE PLANT

Description ‑ Flower: Shape: Cup, then more flat

Diameter: 12 cm.

Sepal color, exterior: Green, brownish towards its base, with fine black spotting          

            Sepal color, interior: Blue

            Petal color: Light blue

Petal number: 14-16

            Stamen: Filament color: Yellow         

            Anther color: Yellow

            Tip color: White, light blue

            Pedicel (flower stalk) color: olive green/brownish

Fragrant? Lightly scented

 
Height above water: 30 cm.

 

Leaves: Shape: Round, ellipsoidal

            Margin: Lightly dentate

What cultivar does this plant most closely resemble and how does it differ? Blue N. gigantea, but in N. ‘Kew’s Blue Pixie’ the leaves are much smaller, sepals are brown at the base having black spotting, flowers are smaller, fewer stamens that also are thicker. It has a lower petal count and the flower size is smaller than N. gigantea.
